Plot:In Verona the ancient feud between two families, the Capulet and Montagues, break out again and even the Prince is unable to pacify there.
Romeo, the son of Mmontague, and his friend Benvolio and Mercutio attend a masked ball in tha Capulet household. There he sees Juliet and instantly falls in love with her. While trying to lose his friend, Romeo finds himself at Juliet˘s balcony and overhears her declaring her love for him, which he returns. The next day, with the help of her nurse and Romeo˘s confessor, Friar Laurence, they are secretly married.
Romeo is challenced to a duel by Juliet˘s cousin, Tybalt. He refuses to fight but Mercutio takes his place and is killed. Romeo avenges his friend˘s death by killing Tybalt. The Prince banishes him from Verona and after secretly spending his wedding night with Juliet, he flees to Mantua.Juliet˘s father arranges for her to be married to Paris, a kinsman of the Prince in desperation she seeks help from Fiar Laurence, who gives her a sleeping potion that will make her appear dead. Romeo is to be reunited with her after she has been „burried“.
He writes to Romeo of the plan but the message miscarries. Romeo hears that Juliet is death and buys poison resolving to die by her side. With Juliet˘s apparently dead body in his arms. Romeo takes the poison a moment Juliet awakes and seeing that Romeo is dead, she too kills herself. Over the bodies of their two dead children, the Capulets and Montagues are reconciled.
