PRE – SCHOOLThe children start to go at the nursery at the age of 3 years and finish when they are 6 years old. They come at nursery in the morning and they stay to 3 – 4 p.m. During the day they play with dolls, cars and other toys. They learn songs, poems, riddles and tonguestwisters. Sometimes they watch TV. Afternoon they sleep. They have midmorning snack, lunch and tea.
PRIMARY EDUCATION
Children start Basic school at six years. Compulsory education on Basic school takes 10 years. School year takes 10 months from September to June. Lesson begins at 8 a.m. and finishes at 1 o´clock p.m. Lesson takes 45 minutes. Between lessons are short breaks. Subjects on Basic school are Slovak language, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, languages. The main holidays in school year are from July to August. SECONDARY EDUCATION
Students start study, when they are 15 years old. They must to pass entrance exams. You can choose Grammar school, Comprehensive school, Apprentice school, Boarding school and High school. First lesson starts at 745 a.m. and finishes at 200 p.m. Lesson takes 45 minutes and breaks from 5 to 15 minutes. Holidays in winter take 3 weeks The main holidays take 2 months.
UNIVERSITY
When you want to enter to university, you must have a final exam from secondary school. You will study 4, 5 or 6 years. You will have 2 semesters for one school year. You will have lectures and seminars. You will have exams and tests past every semester. Our university studying is free of charge. You will finish school with final exam. You can get a degree.
