People and their money

Once upon a time, in a village in Phenice a man needed some food to nourish his family, so he went to his neighbour and asked him if he had some. He had, but the only way to get it was to change it against another good.. Our man didn´t like this way of trade, he considered it impractical and so he started to think how to improve it, how to facilite peoples´lives. Finally, he got a wonderful idea – people could use little pieces of metal. It is very handy, it takes just a little place and you can always have it with you. Thus money was created.
Since then it experienced a long evolution. Pieces of metal gained different denominations, copper, tin, bronze, gold, silver, and paper money started to be used, and every country put their own symbol on it. Step by step, each currency gained its own value. In addition, a big bankig system was created. Nowadays, you can go anywhere with a small credit card made of plastic and you have no problem to buy anything you want. But it´s not all, you can manage your shopping just by calling to the shop, sending a fax or by pushing a button on your computer.
But although it has many pros, it has much more cons. Not only it changes our lives but also our personality. Its power is really great. Let´s start with children. Many of them are under an incredible pressure. They are often excluded of the collective only because their dress is not good enaugh, or because they don´t possess the modernest toys. This is a big problem, because not every parent can give his child such acquisitions and thereafter their personality suffers from feelings of inferiority. Furthermore, their schoolmates can be really cruel, especially those, who have anything that is „in“. This is the reason why it is very important to learn children what is money for and to explain them that nobody should be judged because of his means.
Another group that depends on money are young people. Their role is to become independent, to create their own family, which is absolutely impossible without money. But to earn it is not that easy. Finding a job is an exhausting task, because they are young and so they don´t have any experiences. Moreover, they are often badly paid, because their employer turns their jejuneness to good account. The situation is even harder if they have already children to take care of.

They often fight to keep their family.
People in the middle age have usually enaugh money to live their life, but they still have to help their children, who start their self – activities. Also, they should try to save as much money as possible so that they don´t live in abjection later. But inspite of this I think this age is the best. You don´t have to worry about your accomodation, about the future of your family and you usually have a steady job. You can use your money to travel, to put your mind on your hobbies, simply – to make your drems come true. But all ends when you become old. You retire, and so you depend on the others, on your children, on the money you saved, on the state.. You don´t have any extras. The best case is, when your offspring concerns himself about you, but many grand mothers and grand fathers end in retirements homes. So this was a normal human life. But there are some extremes, too. Let´s mention meanness, for exemple. Money has such an influence on some people, that they really sacrifice all their lives to it. They become blind and the only thing they see is their main interest – how to become even richer. The thing that is interessting about it is, that they don´t spend it, their biggest joy is to lump it and to admire it. It becomes their only friend, family, simply said – everything. They would rather die then surrender of any. Another phenomenon are people whose self - confidence depends only on their propriety. They have huge villas, expensive limousines, they offer mervellous presents to their friends just to show how merciful they are. They never do any hardwork and they despise workers, because labour means only filth for them. This is caused by their lifestyle, because the only reason they achieved something was they paid for it. Simply said – if they were poor, they would be completely lost, all their power would have disappeared.
In my opinion, to be rich doesn´t mean to be happy. Many poor families are the happiest in the world, even though their life is thorny. This is because they have no anxiety about their gear and they consider values like mutual understanding, love, and family – immaterial things - more important then anything else. It´s maybye also because they can appreciate the real value of money, which is something very relative. For a homeless person, who has nowhere to live and who struggles for life every day £5 means a huge amount, whereas it´s completely ridiculous for a millionaire, who can fire his £20 cigar with it.
Another thing, that shows this relativity is the inflation. Savings people economized for decennaries can turn to nothing in few seconds.

I´ll always remember my grandfather describing us the big inflation that hit Slovakia. It came like a bolt from the blue. You could have a real fortune or just money you needed to live, everything was away. Children were blanking barley – mows from banknotes, that were worth a cow only a week ago. It was a very sad event, you could see many men crying of desperation, because all their labour was gone and they could do nothing about it.
However, not everybody earns his living that honest way. We live in a world of capitalism, which is full of people, who want to be rich doing anything except virtuous work. They falsify bank bills, they steal, they manipulate bank accounts and they are even able to kill without any wringing of conscience. Now, let´s move to our Pehenicien. He must have been really very content of his invention, though personally I think that if our man had known how the money influences us nowadays he wouldn´t have created it.
