Ken Kesey One Flew Over The Cuckoo´s Nest

Title:One Flew Over The Cuckoo´s Nest

Author:Ken Kesey was born in 1935. Setting:USA, after the second world war, in the mental home

Main character:Indian Bromden, Randle P McMurphy, Miss Ratched (The Big Nurse) and patients

Story:Indian Bromden lives in the mental home. He pretends that he is deaf and dumb. He has a quite calm life, he sweeps the floor every day. There is a nurse in the ward. Her name´s miss Ratched. She is very strict and evil. Every patient si afraid of her. Randle P. McMurphy is the man who has problems with law, he is rebelious. Since he came in the mental home everything has been differend. He plays cards, he laughs, he is noisy. Miss Ratched who is called "The Big Nurse" by the patients hates McMurphy and she wants to destroy him. But she can´t. She is very angry but she always looks perfect and calm. McMurphy has many friends - one of his friend is also Bromden. The patients become to be more brave and cheeky. They like McMurphy and he likes them. McMurphy made a secret party. But it was a big mistake for him because the next day one of the patients killed himself. McMurphy had to go to the operation and that was the revenge by miss Ratched. McMurphy was defenceless after this operation. He only laid in bed, he didn´t speak, he didn´t laugh, he wasn´t cheeky. He was quiet and paralysed. Bromden was very unhappy because of McMurphy so he suffocased him. Then he escaped away. Your evaluation:The book is very good. I liked it. McMurphy was really an interesting character. I hated miss Ratched. She was so evil. The story is very sad. Although McMurphy died he gave to the patients two important things - brave and hope. .
